【摘要】:Thelossofvolatilematerialsfromgreasesandoilscanadverselyaffecttheoriginalperformancecharacteristicsofalubricantand,therefore,couldbeasignificantfactorinevaluatingalubricantforaspecificuse.Suchvolatilescanalsobeconsideredcontaminantsintheenvironmentinwhichthelubricantistobeused.Correlationbetweenresultsfromthistestmethodandserviceperformancehasnotbeenestablished.Thetestmethodcanbeusedatanyspecifiedtemperaturebetween93and316x00B0;C(200and600x00B0;F)thatmaybeagreeduponbytheuserofthemethod.(Warningx2014;Thistestmethodshouldnotbeusedattemperatureswhichexceedtheflashpointofthebaseoilofthegrease.)Note18212;Thespecifiedflowofair,2.58x00B1;0.02g/min,(2L/minatstandardtemperatureandpressure),assumesdryair.Itisnotknownthattheoriginalworkinvolveddryairbutithassincebeenshownthatthiscanbeafactorinreproducibilityandshouldbeaddressed.Airwithadewpointoflessthan10x00B0;Catstandardtemperatureandpressurewillbesatisfactory.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofevaporationlossoflubricatinggreasesattemperaturesbetween93and316x00B0;C(200and600x00B0;F).ThistestmethodisintendedtoaugmentTestMethodD972,whichislimitedto149x00B0;C(300x00B0;F).1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificsafetyinformation,see5.2.
